A huge thank you to all out members and friends who donated presents for the Santa's Grotto. Also thank you to all our members who came in to help and join in the festive fun. Some of you may have seen our Facebook post about the wonderful man Steve Sullivan, who Zoe and I met in B&Q. We had gone in to get MDF to make candy sticks for the grotto, we were struggling loading the huge sheet of wood into the horse box when a kind man asked if we needed any help. To cut a long story short when we got chatting to him it turned out his daughter went to Derian House and he ended up making the candy sticks in B&Q car park. It was a magical experience and Zoe and I felt like we were part of a feel good Christmas movie. We also must say thank you to Lorraine Blockley who made the most amazing cakes, to Carver's Christmas trees (turn opposite carpark to Cuerden Park off Lancaster Lane) for fabulous Christmas trees. To my good friends Fred and Carmen, think you may guess what part they played! Also to my amazing friend Sarah who helped me paint the candy sticks. Also a huge thank you to Zoe, Katie, Caron and Paul the most amazing team and to all my friends and relatives who made generous donations online or dropped off presents and to Julie Round who provided the fabulous food and her donation. With everyones help we raised at least £1200 ( collection buckets still to be counted). Derian House Children's Hospice is a charity close to my heart as some of you may Know our son Tom suffered a terrible accident nearly three years ago, he had a severe brain injury and had open heart surgery and we very nearly lost him. The year of his accident we raised money for Preston Neuro Rehab Ward. I now raise money for Derian House because there is no pain greater than seeing your children suffer, or feeling they may be taken from you. Dickon and I have every empathy with all the parents and families of the amazing and brave children that attend Derian House. We hope the funds we have raised will help in some small way.
